Questionable Remixs

             For my second Object Design class. I was tasked to remix or mash premade 3D objects together to make objects to my heart's desires using Tinker Cad. My heart's desires during this project are certainly questionable, and I will be showing all of what I have made in the project

Despite the dysfunctional theme of most of my objects, this one is probably the most practical. This is a comb with an extendable and replaceable razor blade. Sure, you are shaving with a raw blade. However, as long as you don't trim your hair while combing it, this is a convenient and compact travel tool

I had to save my favourite one for last


The wheels on this stand are not just decorations, this was one of the few popular conceptualizations of the Perpetual Motion Machines. Although the real-life counterpart doesn't work, the idea is that the displacements of the weight of the balls as the wheel turned would make the wheel move infinitely. The next thing my mind chose to do is to put these wheels on the one stand that should never roll down infinitely... a toilet paper stand.

 Following the Rhino surface modelling lesson, the Object Design class was taught how to make flattened surfaces of our 3D objects into printable construction sheets.  The class was taught how to make our surfaces into 2D vectors, how to make flaps so that we could use them to glue our objects together, and how to print our object on Rhino.  From the way flaps are made in Rhino, I noticed that flaps are not that strong, and can easily break if there is too much stress on those parts. I decided that I would redesign my object so that each connection point is more secure. I decided to make the object closer to the octagon shape like the mouthpiece and made the joining points of the tubes at a 45-degree angle. Tinker CAD Pen model

               In Object Design course at AUArts, I watched a documentary called Objectified by Gary Hurwitz. The video talked about the process in which objects are made, the range of common objects like toothbrushes, to more elaborate computers and smart devices. The documentary can be considered mundane because people are both used to common objects and not giving much thought to them. However, the thoughts, philosophies, and elaborate brainstorming that each designer in the documentary show are constructed deeply and have a resonating impact. Each object's design is given special care to make people's life convenient and appeal to their aesthetic sense.
